I want to start therapy, how do I schedule an appointment?
Use this link: Contact me and fill out the inquiry form. I will set up a time with you to do a 10 minute free phone consultation. If we decide to proceed we will schedule a formal assessment to be completed. This appointment lasts 60-75 minutes. Over the first few sessions we will assess if ongoing therapy toghether is appropriate.
How long will I be in therapy and how often do we meet?
At the beginning of therapy, it is recommended that we meet weekly if possible. Sometimes frequency is decreased over time depending on the needs of the patient. Duration of therapy is dependent on many factors and unique to each person. Sometimes therapy is needed for a few months, others benefit from ongoing therapy for many years.
What types of issues do you treat?
My areas of practice are primarily focused on eating disorders, mood disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder and anxiety. I also treat many patients experiencing with chronic illness, life transitions due to aging, caregiving to loved ones, and parenting adult children. Most of my patients have more than one diagnosis or life issue they are experiencing over the course of therapy.
What kind of therapy do you do?
My primary mode of therapy is psychodynamic therapy (click HERE for a description). My practice is also informed by relational therapy, Acceptance and Committment Therapy, and traditional cognitive behavioral therapy approaches. Though I apply these theories and interventions in our session, for the patient it may feel similar to having a conversation.
Do you accept insurance?
For Illinois residents doing telehealth, I do not bill commercial insurance. I accept private pay and will provide you with a superbill on a monthly basis that can be submitted to your insurance for reimbursement directly to you. I am a contracted Medicare provider and can provide in person and telehealth services to patients who meet criteria according to current Medicare regulations for behavioral health.
